Welcome to the Wolds Photo website, and thank you for visiting.

Reading Room Gallery - Whitby

I'm delighted to say that a range of my framed and signed limited edition prints is now available from the excellent Reading Room Gallery in Whitby. The monochrome seascapes feature Whitby, Saltwick Bay and Robin Hood's Bay and are printed on Hahnemühle fine art paper.

Two Extremes: Spurn Point and Madeira

I've spent more time at Spurn Point Nature Reserve recently, and have also just returned from Madeira. Two completely different landscapes, but each has in common a constant state of flux: Spurn, from the impact of the North Sea; and Madeira, from the climate, which leads to constantly changing light. I've included several new images from each  on my Coastal Mono and Coastal Colour pages.

Printing and Giving

As well as the North Yorkshire Coast range of prints available from Reading Room Gallery in Whitby, you can also buy unframed prints direct from me via my shop page and now also on Etsy.  Every print is made using Hahnemühle fine art paper, using an Epson SC-P900 professional printer and all images are carefully soft proofed prior to printing - take a look at the video further down the page for an example. If you don't see the image you're looking for, just contact me. With every print purchased, the Cystic Fibrosis Trust will benefit from a donation of up to 15% of the face value of the sale - find out more in my blog post.

As ever, I'll be adding to these pages and my Instagram feed regularly.

Sign-up for updates via the Contact page and I'll let you know when new pictures appear on the website, and occasionally when I have something more to say about photography. Feel free to contact me if you'd like to know more about my work.

Most of all, just enjoy the pictures and the landscapes they capture.

Thanks for visiting.

My Printing Workflow

Digital technology being what it is, printing an image isn't quite as simple as just hitting the "print" button and waiting for a perfect picture to emerge a few seconds later. No, that would be too easy. Instead, aside from processing the RAW image from the camera, there's a process called soft proofing to go through; the correct paper profile to select; checks and balances to perform.

In this video I give a short insight into how I create a the prints you can find in my shop
